The NMC has announced its final decision on 156 additional applications from 38 medical colleges that are seeking to start new PG medical courses and increase their seats.
New Delhi: In a recent notice, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced its final decision on 156 additional applications from 38 medical institutes seeking to start new postgraduate medical courses or increase PG medical seats in existing courses.
Among these, 125 applications were for starting new PG medical courses, and 31 applications were for increasing seats in existing PG medical courses.
"In continuation of MARB’s Public Notice dated April 28, 2024, regarding applications from medical institutions for the start or increase of PG medical courses and seats, we inform you that MARB's final decision on 156 more applications (for starting new PG medical courses and increasing seats in PG medical courses for the academic year 2024–25) has been communicated through the email IDs provided in the online applications. This information is for the concerned medical institutions and colleges to take the necessary action within the stipulated timeline," the Medical Assessment and Rating Board of NMC mentioned in the notice dated June 12, 2024.
Along with the notice, the NMC also attached a list of all 156 applications submitted by 38 medical institutes across the country. The Commission stated in the notice, "A list containing the application numbers of each of the aforementioned 156 applications (125 applications for starting new PG Medical courses and 31 applications for increasing seats in PG Medical courses) is attached to this public notice for general information."
Medical Dialogues previously reported that, through a notice dated April 28, 2024, the NMC sent its final decision to 18 medical colleges regarding 101 applications for starting new PG medical courses and increasing seats for the academic year 2024-2025. At that time, the Commission informed us that communications about the final decision for the remaining applications would be sent in due course.
Again, on May 4, 2024, the NMC issued another notice, communicating its final decision to 31 medical institutes regarding 153 applications. Last month, the NMC issued more communications and notified its final decisions on several other applications. Recently, through a notice dated June 3, 2024, the NMC notified its final decision on 117 more applications to start or increase PG medical seats.
Referring to these earlier communications, the NMC mentioned in the notice dated June 12, 2024, "It may be recalled that via MARB’s public notice of even number dated April 28, 2024, May 4, 2024, May 10, 2024, and May 18, 2024, the final decisions on 868 online PG Medical course applications (638 applications for starting new PG Medical courses and 230 applications for increasing seats in PG Medical courses) had already been communicated through the email IDs provided in the online applications to the concerned Medical Institutions/Colleges."
The notice further stated, "The final decision on the remaining applications received online will be sent in due course. This issue has the approval of the competent authority."
