Infrastructure by unveiling teaching hospitals at five government medical colleges and laying the groundwork for the enhancement of four others. The ceremony, held in Bhubaneswar, marked the inauguration of teaching hospitals in recently established government medical colleges, including Bhima Bhoi Medical College in Balangir, Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College in Baripada, and Fakir Mohan Medical College in Balasore, each equipped with 650 beds. Additionally, Sundargarh Government Hospital and Keojhar Dharani Dhar Medical College feature 500 beds each.

The event also spotlighted the planned upgrades for several medical colleges, promising state-of-the-art facilities for institutions like Cuttack’s Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer, Berhampur MKCG-MCH, Rourkela RGH, and Burla VIMSAR.

In his address, Chief Minister Patnaik emphasized the government's commitment to providing top-tier medical services, stating that the newly launched facilities mark a significant milestone in ensuring access to quality healthcare for the people of Odisha. He underscored the correlation between a healthy populace and overall happiness, highlighting the importance of these initiatives.

The collective investment of over Rs 2,000 crore in nearly 3,000-bed teaching hospitals reflects the government's dedication to improving healthcare accessibility across diverse socio-economic strata within the respective districts, Patnaik noted. He also noted the remarkable growth in medical education in Odisha, citing the establishment of eight new medical colleges and two postgraduate institutes over the past six years. Furthermore, plans are underway for three additional medical colleges in the coming years.

The state's healthcare landscape has witnessed a notable transformation, with annual outputs of MBBS doctors and specialists witnessing a substantial surge—from 321 MBBS doctors and 254 specialists previously to 2,525 MBBS and 972 specialist doctors annually at present.

These developments complement previous endeavors, such as the inauguration of 73 Ama Hospitals across 15 districts and the establishment of 5 dialysis centers at sub-divisional hospitals, further fortifying Odisha's healthcare infrastructure under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's visionary leadership.
