Some students had to be taken to medical facilities outside as the on-campus health centre was shut

The warden, accompanied by some students, suggested that the summer heat could have been the cause. Exams are currently underway, and for many,Mumbai University they occur during the afternoon hours, making it highly probable that these issues could be heat-related, she said. Goral Pohane, a Master of Arts (theatre) student, mentioned that on the day of the incident, there was a brief power outage at the hostel. She mentioned, "Most of the students have recovered, but some are still unwell." Pohane also noted that students could only access the on-campus health center the following day, as it closes at 4 p.m.

The warden has been very helpful; she had to escort a couple of students to medical facilities outside the campus. Several students also self-medicated and managed mild symptoms independently,” she said. Like Kulkarni, Pohane also believes that the situation was due to the summer heat. There were many who were not affected by it,” she said, adding that the total capacity of the hostel is about 140 and some students have also returned home Meanwhile, Yuva Sena (UBT) has brought the issue to the management's attention. We suspect water contamination, and we are awaiting the report. Our demand following this is round-the-clock medical services for students." Pradeep Sawant, a Yuva Sena member, emphasized the need for doctors to be stationed at the health post round-the-clock," he said.
