NEET counseling for this academic year begins on July 6 to fill 9,703 MBBS and 2,270 BDS seats in UP.
Uttar Pradesh will begin MBBS and BDS counseling on July 6, 2024, for this academic year. Authorities have yet to release the complete schedule of round-wise UP MBBS and BDS counseling.
Uttar Pradesh will start its counseling process for undergraduate MBBS and BDS courses on the specified date to fill 9,703 MBBS and 2,270 BDS seats. Only candidates who have qualified for NEET and are listed in the UP NEET merit list 2024 can participate in the UP NEET counseling 2024 session for admission under the 85% state quota seats. Preparations for the counseling process have followed the existing guidelines of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Earlier, Medical Dialogues reported that there are 704 medical colleges in India with a total intake capacity of 1,07,948 MBBS seats, as stated by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. According to the data, Uttar Pradesh has 68 medical colleges with 9,703 MBBS seats.
Speaking to the TOI about NEET counseling, state NEET coordinator Avni Kamal mentioned that around 7 lakh students usually apply for the counseling process. Additionally, a senior official from the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) noted that candidate document verification will be conducted at 20 centers across UP.
UP MBBS/BDS admission 2024 will occur in three rounds, including a mop-up round. During the UP NEET 2024 counseling seat allotment, candidates must indicate their preferred colleges. In the choice-filling session, candidates can select as many colleges as they wish for the UP MBBS/BDS allotment process. Admission to UP MBBS 2024 will be granted based on the choices filled by the candidates, the availability of seats, the NEET 2024 All India Rank, reservation criteria, and various other factors.
